The neighborhood lies east of the U Street corridor, which is infamous for its cultural significance in the black community. Visiting the African American Civil War Museum is a fascinating experience and a great way to pay homage to the brave African American soldiers who fought for the Union in the Civil War.
 
Catching a live performance at The Howard Theatre is always a blast. With a legacy dating back to 1910 and a statue of Duke Ellington out front, it’s an absolute must-visit destination that guarantees a memorable experience. Not too far from The Howard Theatre lies the historic Dunbar Theater, which acted as a communal space to support the black community during times of racial segregation. Howard University, a historically black private research institution founded in 1867, can also be found here. For movie lovers, Atlantic Plumbing Cinema is a luxury theater with tasty cocktails and small bites to savor in the screening room.
